SHOK-1 Masterpeace Red

SHOK-1 is pleased to announce ‘Masterpeace’, a limited edition handmade print in three colourways. This is his first edition in the beautiful medium of etching.

This release is the unofficial sequel to ‘Thorns’, the enormously popular edition which sold out in 11 minutes back in 2018.

The artwork depicts a poppy X-ray with a barbed wire stem. Here, the white poppy symbolises peace. The artist elaborates, “it seems inevitable that we fight at times, whether it be full-scale dispute between nations or just an argument between lovers in the home, but we always have the potential for peace and reconciliation. We should never give up hope.” 

This print is based on the 2017 ‘Masterpeace’ mural painted on Brick Lane in London. The original artwork was rendered in freehand spraypaint with unique skills refined over a career spanning nearly 40 years.

RELEASE DETAILS

‘Masterpeace’ comes in Noir, Blue and Red editions limited to just 30 prints each.

For this release, we commissioned master printmaker Simon Lawson. Universally regarded as an expert in etching, Simon has been perfecting his craft since the 80’s and has inspired a whole generation of printmakers teaching at the prestigious Royal Academy here in London. 

A romantic and classical medium, etching lends an image it’s own unique feeling and texture. For this release, the highly technical process of polymer gravure was used to painstakingly translate the subtle tones of the original artwork.

Each print is individually signed and numbered by SHOK-1 and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. (SHOK has elected not to emboss this edition, feeling it would clash somewhat).
